Ready for a retail role that actually means something?

Step into Dawlish’s welcoming charity shop as our new Assistant Manager and turn your passion for retail into real world impact. This isn’t just about hitting targets. It’s about leading a vibrant shop, inspiring a dedicated team, and helping every sale change lives locally, across the UK, and beyond. If you’re energetic, people focussed, and ready to make a difference every single day, this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

"I'm not delivering to a profit target to enhance someone's personal wealth. I'm making a real, visible contribution to supporting the work of my chosen charity" - Joanne, Regional Retail Manager

What does the role of an Assistant Shop Manager involve?
  • This is retail with real purpose and real pace. One minute you’re on the shop floor creating a warm, welcoming space customers love; the next, you’re behind the scenes driving performance and keeping everything running smoothly.
  • You’ll work side-by-side with the Shop Manager to shape a thriving, customer-first store that proudly represents the British Red Cross on the high street. Think teamwork, energy, and impact, every single shift.
  • You’ll inspire and support an incredible team of volunteers, helping them grow in confidence and skills while delivering outstanding service. From leading by example on the floor to coordinating the details that make the shop shine, you’ll play a hands-on role in making every day successful, meaningful, and genuinely rewarding.

What does it take to be a successful Assistant Shop Manager?
  • Hands-on experience in a shop environment and know what it takes to keep things running smoothly and successfully.
  • Being a natural with people, you thrive on delivering great customer experiences, building strong relationships, and motivating a team to do their best. You enjoy meeting a diverse range of customers and creating a welcoming space for everyone.
  • Sharp commercial instinct. You understand targets, take ownership of results, and feel confident using systems and technology to support the day-to-day running of the shop.
  • Being adaptable and ready to roll up your sleeves. Retail can be fast-paced and ever-changing,  you’re happy to flex your approach to meet the needs of the shop and the community it serves.
Interested? The closing date for applications is 23.59 on Sunday 12th July 2026.
