Job Title: Policy & Advocacy Manager (Refugees and Asylum)
Job Location: UKO London Moorgate, Hybrid Home & Office
Salary: £44,188 to £48,327 per annum per annum based on 35 hours per week (Plus ILW if applicable)
Contract Type: Permanent
Could you as the Policy & Advocacy Manager (Refugees & Asylum) be responsible for designing and delivering policy and advocacy programmes that improve the lives and experiences of refugees and people seeking asylum in the UK?
What will a Policy & Advocacy Manager's job involve?
- Design and deliver policy advocacy strategies and plans for our work related to the UK asylum system
- Lead on developing policy solutions for people seeking asylum and refugees in the UK
- Identify evidence gaps and work with British Red Cross research functions and external partners to produce impactful research
- Provide strategic and tactical advice, including to senior management as needed
- Ensure the experiences of the people we support through our services are reflected throughout our policy and advocacy work
- Leadership of the Refugee and Asylum Policy team and line management of Senior Policy Officers
What will a Policy & Advocacy Manager need to be successful?
- Significant experience of roles within in public/social policy, advocacy or similar
- Demonstrable understanding of evidence-based public policy making
- Demonstrable understanding of how to deploy evidence and research to support policy advocacy
- Proven and demonstrable verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex policy ideas into a persuasive format for a variety of audiences
- Experience of working with colleagues to design and deliver engagement and influencing strategies
- Experience of building impactful relationships with external stakeholders and decision-makers
- Demonstrable understanding of how to effectively support the delivery and development of others
- Experience of successfully managing a number of different projects at any given time, completing them to a high level of quality
